Someone mentioned this restaurant in another thread so I checked out their website and it sounds really good. Anyone know if their patio is dog-friendly?

Suggest giving them a call. I haven%26#39;t been to the VQ in years, but from what I remember, the only access to the patio is by walking through the restaurant. If that%26#39;s true, your dog probably wouldn%26#39;t be allowed. Also, tables on the patio are pretty tightly packed; another reason they might not allow dogs.

Yeah, I don%26#39;t think dogs are allowed.
There were very few places that were not dog friendly and I am thinking they were one of them..
Thanks for the replies mistletoe and ScarlettO1. If the weather is good enough for outdoor dining when we get up there I%26#39;ll certainly call them. However, if you do go through the restaurant to get to the patio, I doubt they allow dogs. Although we%26#39;ve dined on the patios of dozens of restaurants accompanied by our golden, only one was accessed by taking her through the inside of the restaurant and that was in ultra dog-friendly Carmel!
It%26#39;s not as if the VQ is the only place in town with outside dining. I%26#39;m sure Scarlett can come up with more, but I%26#39;m pretty sure your dog would be welcome at the sidewalk tables outside Bluehour, Fratelli, and Paragon.
Hi, yes, we took our large dog with us everywhere .. when we moved to Portland, we had a week to wait for our furniture to arrive, we stayed at the Monaco Hotel then moved into our empty apartment .. no dishes meant not cooking :)
%26lt;I was almost sorry to see the movers arrive%26gt;
We went to ..
Paragon, bluehour,Vault,Everett Street Bistro, Pearl Bakery, Oba, Silk, SouthPark, Fenouil, the Farmers Markets, actually, anything that is outdoors, is pretty much dog friendly. . or wherever there is no food sold as in Whole Foods and Powells does Not allow dogs.
They will bring your dog water, and some places give treats.. it was quite an adjustment here , where we now live, to find that dogs are not really allowed in many places at all, even though there are almost as many dogs as people living in this city !
Enjoy your visit to Portland, we really loved living there .
Thanks for all the suggestions! I have searched these forums and realized we had many, many choices. I was just curious about Veritable Quandary because it looks to be quite close to where we are staying at the Residence Inn RiverPlace. Looking forward to our visit!
I thought that might be it, leucadian. Don%26#39;t know how extensive their food menu is, but you might check out Thirst: http://www.thirstbistro.com/ . They%26#39;ve got a few tables on the sidewalk, overlooking the river.
Thanks mistletoe, Thirst Wine Bar %26amp; Bistro looks great! There%26#39;s even a link on their website to a blog by someone who went there with 7 people and 6 large dogs!
Am I remembering incorrectly, or does VQ have two porches: One in the back and one near the sidewalk that borders the grassy area near the approach to the Hawthorne Bridge. I seem to remember stopping for Mango Margaritas there a few times 4 summers ago and sitting on the front patio so I could smoke cigarettes before staggering across the bridge to my apartment.
I go to the VQ fairly often. I must say that I have never seen a dog there. Doesn%26#39;t mean that they do not allow them, just means that I have never seen one there. ;-)
The food is really good there. The seafood stew is one of my favorite dishes...although it kills almost any chance to taste wine. LOL!
