Gold Beach Restaurants

We will be driving up and staying at the Tu Tu Tun Lodge for one night. I understand there is a meal plan but when I looked into it, it seemed liked it was very expensive. Is the meal worth it for the price they charge? It is myself, husband and two boys ages 16 and 12. If not, any other ideas in the area for a restaurant with a nice view of the river. Will this be more of a hassle to leave the hotel to find a restaurant?

Gold Beach Restaurants

The Riverview Restaurant offers pretty nice meals and great views of the river. It%26#39;s on the south bank of the Rogue, a mile or so up from the coast highway; while Tu Tu Tun is across on the north bank of the river. We%26#39;ve never stayed at Tu Tu Tun, but hope to one day when we have an opportunity and occasion warranting that expense. Since I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll be taking your boys on the jetboats. I don%26#39;t think driving around to the Riverview and back would be too much of a hassle, unless you%26#39;ve had a really full day and just want to crash.

Gold Beach Restaurants

I think it%26#39;s an excellent value for what you get, but probably more suitable for adults than for teens, especially if the boys aren%26#39;t into mingling and talking with other guests (who are probably going to be mostly adults since they don%26#39;t get a lot of families there). For me, meeting and talking with other guests is as much a part of the experience as the food but I know not everyone enjoys that plus a four course meal may not be a teen%26#39;s cup of tea.

My M-I-L lives in Gold Beach, and whenever we visit we make it a point to take her to Spinners%26#39;. tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g51887-d6321鈥?/a>

I have to say, when we were there in July 2008, the service was a little slow. But it%26#39;s such a nice view, and everyone on staff is so cordial, and the food is so good, we didn%26#39;t mind because we weren%26#39;t really in a hurry. The food %26amp; view (ocean, not river) make up for occasional slow service.

Tu Tu Tun is 8 miles upriver from the ocean on a rather narrow winding road. We were up there just a couple of weeks ago (not staying there, just went past) and I don%26#39;t think there are any other restaurants on the north bank.

Riverview is pretty darn pricey, IMO, so depends upon how much you want to spend on dinner. It has a nice river view.

The Spinner%26#39;s reviews don%26#39;t look too encouraging overall.

There is a very small Mexican place in town that is quite good where many locals go. There is also Sunset Family Pizza in the Grants building (Grants is no longer there). You might want to get a pizza to go and eat on your room deck?

We definitely would like to do the jetboats, but we are driving up from Santa Rosa and not sure what time we will get to Gold Beach so I don%26#39;t want to go ahead and book a boat ride. I did check into Jerry%26#39;s Rouge Boats and they do have a trip that leaves a 2:30, if we can get on that (which even picks up at the Tu Tu Tun lodge), we can do that and in the brochure it says that they stop for dinner. If we do it that way, then we will not get to eat dinner at Tu Tu Tun. I think that is the only time we can fit it in because the next morning we drive to Florence for the dune buggys and off the Yachats.
