A Hotel for UFC weekend, August 29

I%26#39;m planning on attending UFC 102 at the Rose Garden on August 29th. I%26#39;m planning on going carless and have narrowed down my hotels to the Hotel Deluxe and Hotel Modera. Both are exactly the same price.

Has anyone stayed at both? I like the design and decor of Modera, but Deluxe seems to look more posh.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Carless = MAX, I assume and that might mean: which hotel is closest to light rail? DeLuxe is right on light rail, halfway between the Sw 10th/Galleria stop and the PGE Park stop (PGE a little closer). Modera is a few blocks south of light rail; Pioneer Square stop is closest then walk several blocks south.

I have stayed at NEITHER hotel, but have read up on both as both have been renovated in recent years. Modera was, to put it nicely, a shabby dump of a Days Inn just a couple of years ago. Alot of paint, new furnishings and modern decor have done a nice transformation. the part of the city it%26#39;s in is OK, though it%26#39;s not too close to the better restaurants/nightlife. For that matter, neither is Deluxe - though it%26#39;s a more reasonable walk to the Pearl District for restaurants, upscale pubs, etc. DeLuxe%26#39;s decor harkens to the 20%26#39;s/30%26#39;s Hollywood era, an Art Deco relic which was transformed in recent years from its dingy past to a much higher degree of elegance

It%26#39;s sort of a toss-up as to where you choose to stay. I would map out other things that interest you and see what%26#39;s close by. Does that help?
