Summer Road Construction

half-Brit%26#39;s suggestion to someone coming south from Beaverton to Eugene and taking 126 across to Florence reminded me of the story in the paper this week about summer road construction. Here are a couple of the items on the state%26#39;s construction list:

OR 126 Florence 鈥?Eugene Highway 鈥?Pave 18 miles of Oregon 126 between Phey Lane and Siuslaw River Road, MP 7 to MP 27. Traffic reduced to one lane. 24-hour operations at times. Pilot cars and flaggers will control traffic. Up to 20 minute delays. Completion: 10/2010.

OR 126 Florence 鈥?Eugene Highway 鈥?Replace North Fork Siuslaw River Bridge near North Fork Road, MP 1. Occasional one lane closures controlled by flaggers. Traffic will switch to new alignment in fall 2009. Occasional 5-minute delays. Completion: 4/2011.

For the full listings, see:

And, again, we always tell people to check with www.tripcheck.com for winter weather conditions. The same applies now for summer construction projects. With so much construction planned drivers need to allow extra time for their trips; and extra patience for their mental health.

poppa, good post. I often forget to do that check when we head out. The Big O has a list of those fairly often so i sort of know sites, but for a visitor the ODOT site much better

They have been working on the bridge for some time. I am glad to see they will begin to repave some of that rough pavement along the river!

Will no doubt be congested on Friday afternoons - and Sunday afternoons!
