I may be travelling alone to Portland and would like to go hiking. Does anyone know of any tour groups,environmental organizations that provide hiking tours at the columbia gorge.

Not sure exactly when you plan on going, but Friends of the Columbia River Gorge does a lot of this.

Are you planning on renting a car? If not, I really don%26#39;t have much information on ';tours';. We had a poster a while back that went on a guided tour, can%26#39;t remember the name of the company, but I am not sure how much time they allowed for hiking.

Here are a couple of Portland hiking clubs. Not ';tour groups';...but experienced leaders on scheduled hikes. I%26#39;m more familiar with the Mazamas, a major hiking/climbing organization, but both look like they might be what you want if their summer hiking schedule meets your timing and interests.

The Mazamas are great, not a tour group, but a great group of knowledgeable people about hiking in the area. Most of their hikes are pretty nice-make sure they fit with what you are looking for. Also they useally meet at a place that you can get to by public transit, if transit is an issue.
