downtown Portland transportation/walking

Is it possible, or feasible to walk from either the Marriot or Embassy downtown to the OMSI (thanks to everyone here who recommended it). Or the MAX? Apparently a member of our party has been told by a hotel employee it can%26#39;t be accessed by public transportation? That seems odd...

We are a family group of 3 kids, 6 adults. We aren%26#39;t going to rent a car (unless I can talk them into a trip up the Columbia River Gorge) except for one day to go to a fam gathering in Battleground, WA.

TIA!

Here is the website for OMSI, in case you haven%26#39;t looked, maybe they have info on this.

And I will include the TriMet webpage/Streetcar etc .. maybe that will help.

We had a car when we lived in Portland so we rarely used the trains. :)
