Congrats to Norma's Ocean Diner!

I was just browsing through my May Coastal Living magazine and saw that Norma%26#39;s was listed as one of the favorite seafood dives in the United States. There were a couple places in Newport listed and also Pirate%26#39;s Cove in Garibaldi. Norma%26#39;s also won the ';cutest dive around'; award. It%26#39;s all good at Norma%26#39;s, I can%26#39;t wait to go back here when we%26#39;re in the Seaside area soon! :)

I don%26#39;t remember ever having been to Norma%26#39;s, so can%26#39;t comment, but I do agree about Pirate%26#39;s Cove. Except that somebody should tell the operators that the prices they charge are way higher than what one usually expects in a place that%26#39;s considered a ';dive';.

I read a couple weeks ago already that you plan to be in the area ';soon';. Need any recommendations for places to go, or things to see/do?

Is it that time of year already?

I can%26#39;t stand Norma%26#39;s it smells too fishy, and they were very snooty about adjustments to their menu.

Perhaps you can get down south to visit Newport on your next visit to the Oregon coast, syrahgirl? I think it has been quite a few years since you visited? Perhaps you could try out those couple of places listed.

Which were they, by the way?

Local Ocean Seafoods is very good and serves true fresh fish, were they listed?

I am also interested to know the names of the other places listed.

Mistletoe--I too didn%26#39;t see Norma%26#39;s on that list. But a few of our favorite WA places were. Although I would not call the Salmon House a dive by any means, lol!

I also noticed that it still referenced South Beach Fish Market as Lighthouse Deli. Now, I still call it Lighthouse Deli in certain company, but can you imagine someone driving around and trying to look for it??

Thanks mistletoe, do we all assume that is syrah%26#39;s ';list';? I too do not see Norma%26#39;s there. Shame she%26#39;s not willing to help us out here . . .

I take issue with some of their listings especially the Chowder Bowl in Newport (yuck) and the Sporthaven in Brookings/Harbor (double yuck).
