Attention! Out of area posters . . . budget lodging

Hi, somebody recently asked about economical lodging on the Oregon coast, and I couldn%26#39;t respond at the time and now have misplaced your name.

If you still need some info about budget accommodations, let me know and I%26#39;ll try to help :-)

Attention! Out of area posters . . . budget lodging

For what it is worth half-brit, I would be interested in what you have to share, LOL!!

Seriously though, I am playing with the idea of hitting up the south coast later this summer, so I have been on the look out.

Attention! Out of area posters . . . budget lodging

I know somebody posted who was asking about ';really'; cheap places to stay, so was going to suggest hostels %26amp; small, older motels. But if they don%26#39;t check back . . .

Where are you headed, Mahjerle, and what is your budget? No Overleaf for you, lol?

half-brit: Right now I don%26#39;t have a specific plan. I am just playing with ideas. My niece will be here for the entire summer, coming from San Diego. Trying not to duplicate too much from past years. We have yet to do the south coast with her. I am thinking I might want to do a couple of days in August, maybe make it as far as Crescent City. Like I said, I am just playing with ideas right now. It will be me, my 12 year old neice, plus my two munchkins, 8 and 2. So, yeah, no Overleaf for us. Want to do it as cheap as possible. My in-laws live in Siletz, so we will probably be starting off from there.

Is that vague enough for you? LOL!!!

No worse than many others, LOL!

You ought to take them on a jet boat ride, and visit the redwoods . . .

I am thinking I am going to skip the jet boat ride, if I do end up making this trip down. We have a boat, and while I know it is not the same, they will be spending a large portion of time out fishing on the lakes and river this summer, so I am afraid it would lose some of the WOW factor.

Like I said before, at this point I am just playing with the idea. Not sure if I will go or not. When I saw your post about economical lodging, thought I had better pipe up. (I am always lurking for ideas).

With the assumption that I will be leaving from Newport/Siletz, I am thinking that I want to spend maybe one night in Bandon, 2 nights in Crescent City, and then maybe turn tail and get back to Newport. Maybe?

I love Crescent City and the surrounding area, and have been looking for a good excuse to head down there.

Oh in Crescent City the place to stay (as long as you%26#39;re not into big-n-fancy) is the Crescent Beach Motel. It%26#39;s older, smaller but location is great - just south of town on the beach. Prices are quite reasonable, I think they run about $80/night in summer.

Bandon has a couple of places with no view that are reasonable - the LaKris, Shooting Star, and the one across the street from Ray%26#39;s, darn, can%26#39;t remember their name right now.

Check out the ';original oceanview'; rooms at Sunset Motel, or the Sea Star in old town. The latter may be more comfortable for the group of you:

Thanks for the info half-brit! When it gets closer to time, and should I still plan to go, you can probably expect I will pester you with more questions.

I am actually thinking about just taking the two older girls, and leaving the toddler and husband behind to ';visit'; with his parents, LOL!!!
