I am trying to get a trip of some guys to go play golf at Bandon Dunes, but I got some questions...
1) Is it fun golf for golfers of all handicaps?
2) How many days is optimal?
3) Are there other courses that are worth playing that may be less expensive?
4) Is there any cheap (I know I am pushing my luck) ways to get on courses out there?
5) What is the best time to come out there for good course conditions %26amp; weather? We were going to try May or early June.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I%26#39;m not a golfer, so answers to quetions related to it are out for me, but as for the best time of year to come, May and June can be a real crap shoot. Last year, the weekend b4 Memorial Day, we had three days of temps at or near 100潞. While highly unusual, it does happen. The norm would be light rain or heavy fog with stout north winds and highs near 60潞.
Year in and year out, the absolute BEST weather along the entire Oregon Coast is from August through mid-September, at least, and sometimes, like this year, into mid- October.

Im not a golfer either, but can echo den%26#39;s advice about weather.
Not sure what you mean on question 4- are you talking about getting to Bandon Dunes as far as transportation to Bandon Dunes from the airport/NC or coupons/promotions to play at BD, etc?
As far question 2-as how many days playing the courses or your whole trip. Do you want to do anything else beside play golf? Bandon Dunes is pretty isolated you can fly into North Bend airport, but it is pretty limited service and probably pricey(there is only one carrier so they jack the prices up). Otherwise you have to drive from Portland or Eugene airports, which will take at least 1/2 day(portland, 5 hours, Eugene-3 hours).
Thanks for your help. I was just wondering if there was a cheaper way to play the courses other than staying on-site or if that was the best way to go. I was not sure if someone had done some sort of golf package that they would reccommend. We can probably do later in the year as well. Just trying to gather some information, since I have never been to the Northwest.
Of the three courses at the Resort, Bandon Dunes is the easiest, and enjoyable for all handicaps. Pacific Dunes is probably the favorite; some incredible holes with unbelievable views. It%26#39;s more penal than Bandon, but still ';fun'; for the high handicappers (18-24 +/-). Bandon Trails is the longest and least scenic, but playable for golfers at almost any level. If you have the budget for all three courses, you wouldn%26#39;t regret playing %26#39;em. But if you can only swing two rounds, play Bandon and Pacific.
I agree witht others; budget concerns aside, August %26amp; September are the best months to come. But, greens fees vary with time of year, with the lowest November - February. You%26#39;ll run a high risk of rotten weather at that time of year, but I remember one early November round when a caddy said it was the nicest day he%26#39;d seen on the course the entire year. Check with the Resort for any special package deals. I know they%26#39;ve had some in the past.
Yeah, it%26#39;s expensive, but you%26#39;ll really have a better experience if you stay on site. I think it%26#39;s the only way you can get tee times more than two weeks out, too. And I wouldn%26#39;t risk coming out if you didn%26#39;t have tee times; all three courses get heavy play all year round. Course conditions really don%26#39;t vary much; it%26#39;s more the elements - rain, wind, and cold - that determine playability.
A less expensive nearby option is Bandon Crossings. I%26#39;ve not played it, but my brother says it%26#39;s a nice track. He knows what he%26#39;s talking about (plays to a 4).
I live up the coast a couple of hours, and have yet to play Bandon courses.
But check Allegiant Air flights into Eugene or Medford. May be your best bets.
I play alot at Sandpines in Florence, which probably most similar to Bandon. So, you can usually depend on a strong wind in the afternoon; schedule morning rounds.
You can Google for tee times, but have seen very little for the Bandon courses.
Have a great time!
