camping off I-5

We will be camping as we sprint through on our way back to Ca. Where would be a good spot off I-5 for the middle part of next week? We%26#39;d like to be about 4 hours south of Mt. St. Helens. We are in a tent.

I just looked up Silver Falls State Park - a gorgeous place just east of Salem and they still had tent sites available to reserve for Wednesday next week. That%26#39;s farther north than you wanted, but I am familiar with it and it%26#39;s a destination in itself. It%26#39;s about 30-40 minutes from I-5.

(I just googled Oregon State Parks camping reservations).

From that site you go to reserveamerica and it showed all campgrounds where you can reserve in all states. It showed some campgrounds by Cottage Grove right off the freeway, but I didn%26#39;t look at availability.

There are a few state parks that are relatively close to I-5 but they are rather close to Portland: Champoeg State Park near Newberg, and Silver Falls near Salem.

There is a KOA near Corvallis/Albany and it has cabins...we like to use these when we are sprinting our way back home.(there is one near Salem as well, see koa.com)

It looks like there might be some nice county campgrounds near Eugene - http://ecomm.lanecounty.org/parks/ . Richardson and Armitage are both only 5 miles from Eugene. Baker Bay on Dorena Reservoir isn%26#39;t too far from I-5 (near Cottage Grove)

Good luck!

Another vote for Silver Falls. It isn%26#39;t too far off of I-5, and is a great place. There is a trail that is only about 7 miles (very easy too) and you see 10 waterfalls. You can do bits of it too if you don%26#39;t want to do the full loop. The south falls are the biggie, and those you can walk behind/under. If it is a warm day, this feels especially good! Champoeg is ok, but I much prefer Silver Falls.

Four hours south of Mt St Helens will put you . . . somewhere around Roseburg? I think?

There is a Douglas County Park right at the fairgrounds there. It%26#39;s within sight of the freeway and has grass and trees - quite nice actually. I think tents are okay there.

There are lots of RV parks along the I-5 corridor, but most do not accept tents.

There is one in Myrtle Creek that I think is called

River West? Riverwest? It has tent sites I believe.

All the way south to Gold Hill area is Valley of the Rogue SP. Very pretty.
