Had a quick weekend reunion over Memorial Day Weekend.
Friday night; Wife and I flew into PDX around 8:25pm and took the Red Line to 3rd and Morrison. Jumped off and had a quick dinner at the Rock Bottom Brewery. Not bad for the price and very convenient for MAX riders.
Got back on the Blue Line around 10pm as the fireworks were going off at Waterfront park. So nice of you all to celebrate our arrivel with fireworks...sorry we couldn%26#39;t stick around for the whole show, caught the reflection in the builings. Mom and Dad picked us up at the station in Aloha.
Saturday; Uncle (Dad%26#39;s bro.) and Cousin flew in from Georgia and SC. Visited another uncle at Willamete National Cemetery...It was good. Got a call from an aunt (Dad%26#39;s sis.) while we were all standing at the grave...How cool is that? Visited other family members.
Wife and I checked into Hotel B in Hillsboro. We got it on Priceline for $45 a night and were a bit worried when we read some reviews. Turned out to be quite nice. The staff was professional and the room had been recently remodeled with tile floors and granite countertops in the bath and new furnishings, carpet etc. and one of the most comfortable beds I%26#39;ve ever slept in. The halls were still undergoing rehab but I was a good boy and didn%26#39;t have to spend too much time out there.
Sunday; Skipped church and took the Cousin and Uncle et al. to the Coast. Weather was perfect. Stopped at Boiler Bay. Had dinner at Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay. Very good food and great scenery. Walked and shopped in Depoe Bay and took lots of pic%26#39;s. Saw some seals..cousin%26#39;s trip was complete.
Monday; Took the gang to Multnomah Falls. Everyone else decided to go there too. Absolute zoo!! never have I seen that many people at the falls. Met my brother and a couple nephews there and we all had lunch at the Lodge. Food was good, ambience great, prices not too bad.
Got dropped off Downtown and poked around a few shops then got a tour of the Governor Hotel. Very nice hotel and the front desk help was extremely nice, professional, and knowledgeable about their property. Jumped back on the Red Line and caught our 8:55pm flight home.
Love your MAX... wish our RT could get their act together.
I sometimes miss my %26#39;hometown%26#39;...I just don%26#39;t miss the rain.
Trip Report
Happy to hear that you had a great time.
As for the rain, we don%26#39;t get enough, in my opinion. This past week, with the heat and humidity has been horrid. Ugh! I love winter, where is winter????
Trip Report
Thanks for the great trip report. I can attest for the crowds in the gorge over Memorial Day weekend. I was there Saturday of that weekend and the crowds weren%26#39;t any better. However, the situation at many of the lesser known falls was much better.
Wineaux: After the past winter, that is a dirty word in my book. I have been in Seattle all week and it has been very warm up here as well. However, when I think back to December of last year, I am happy to have it!
Sounds really fun, we were in Seattle this past weekend and had so much fun, it%26#39;s such a great city. We are now on the Oregon Coast in Seaside for awhile, the weather has been beautiful here, we are loving our time being close to the beautiful ocean.
Thanks for reporting back on your travels! :)
