Fourth of July

Our family will be visiting Yachats from BC on the July 4th weekend. Are there generally festivities -- fireworks, etc -- in Yachats, or is it better to travel to Newport or somewhere else nearby?

Fourth of July

Normally Yachats has a ';Lah Dee Dah'; parade on the 4th - ';typical'; of the town in that the city council are on a float which is (at least the last few times that I recall) a manure spreader pulled by a tractor, with a marching drill team outfitted in rain gear (boots and umbrellas), led by a (seeminly) Marine drill sargent! The fireworks are only so-so, those in Newport are much better...but there are lots of ';personal'; fireworks being set off on the beaches all night long...at least on the beach between Yachats and Waldport. Do check the dates for the fireworks carefully - often Waldport, Newport and Yachats alter their ';display days'; (some may be on the 3rd or 5th).

That%26#39;s great information, thanks. We were planning on heading back to Canada on the fourth, but figured we%26#39;d extend through the holiday and get %26#39;small town Americana.%26#39;

Newport always has a decent fireworks display over the bay on the 4th. Weather will be cool to cold.

Yachats has a smaller display also on the 4th.

Waldport has their fireworks on the 3rd, over the Alsea Bay.

Been that way for at least 20 years ;-)

The La-Di-Da parade is a kick, do make sure to see it!
